CLEAR SKY FLOWERS
Lacey Bell

Clear Sky Flowers, LLC, is a micro flower farm in Leon that owner Lacey Bell began in 2020. Lacey sells the flowers that she grows on 1/8 of an acre at farmers markets, to local florists and on her website, which features online tulip orders as well as DIY buckets for weddings and special events.

Clear Sky Flowers’ Choose Iowa grant project will increase storage capacity and improve transportation and shipping methods. Lacey will build an insulated cooler room, which will also include a dedicated processing station. Additionally, Lacey will test various options for transporting and shipping fresh flowers, including a variety of floral sleeves and wraps as well as Procona system rectangular buckets, which are stackable and stable for travel. The project will allow Lacey to store flowers for longer periods of time and expand her markets to more consumers and wholesale Iowa florists.

Lacey estimates the project will increase sales by 20 percent. Lacey’s goal is to bring “locally grown joy in the form of flowers” to her community and others in the state of Iowa. This project will be instrumental in helping her continue to fulfill this ongoing mission.
