Selection tips

Winter squash (acorn, butternut): Choose rock-solid firm squash with a full stem, matte skin and are heavy for their size.  Avoid soft spots or bruises.

Storage tips

Winter varieties: Store in a cool, dry place.  Thick skinned will keep longer than thin-skinned.
