What is Choose Iowa?
Choose Iowa’s vision is to connect consumers to Iowa produce and food products and expand markets for Iowa farmers. Choose Iowa provides consumers a choice in purchasing food items that originate as an agricultural commodity produced on Iowa farms. The brand promotes foods, beverages and other agricultural products that are grown, raised or made within Iowa. Foods must meet or exceed minimum criteria to proudly wear the Choose Iowa logo on their package or label.
“With Choose Iowa, we are establishing an easily recognizable brand that can be used by farmers, producers, processors, farmers markets, grocery stores, restaurants and many others in the supply chain to connect directly with consumers,” says Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig. “Choose Iowa combines the prestige of Iowa’s global agricultural reputation with the entrepreneurial ingenuity that exists in all 99 counties.”
Choose Iowa also provides grants to support farmers, businesses and non-profits with their efforts to increase or diversify their agricultural product offerings, expand markets and shorten the supply chain.
