Commercially available eggnog located in your dairy case does not contain any distilled spirits. FDA regulations require not less than 6% milkfat, 8.25% milk solids not fat and limit egg yolk solids to no more than 1.0% of a products' final weight.

Eggnogs come in many varieties meeting the standards identified. Personal preference for fat content and "custard" flavor as well as additional spices are the driving force behind this holiday treat.
