Apple Bars

These delicious apple bars are sure to please!



  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 egg yolk (save egg white)
  • 1 tsp salt


  • 7 cups apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 heaping T. flour

  1. Mix salt into flour, then cut margarine into flour mixture like pie crust.  
  2. Mix egg and milk together then add to mixture a little at a time, tossing mix with fork as you add until it forms a ball.  
  3. Divide in two, roll out half and line a large cookie sheet. Set other half to the side.
  4. Next, mix filling ingredients together well. 
  5. Spread apple filling evenly on dough, leaving space along edges to seal. 
  6.  Roll out last half of dough and cover apple filling.  
  7. Seal top and bottom edges of dough together.  
  8. Beat egg white and brush on top.  
  9. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35-40 minutes until top is gold brown.
