Seasonal Farm-to-Table Dinner Series to Highlight Iowa Agriculture and Culinary Talent

DES MOINES, Iowa (Oct. 11, 2024) – The Iowa Tourism Office and Choose Iowa have partnered with the Iowa Restaurant Association to launch a seasonal farm-to-table dinner series, celebrating the connection between Iowa’s agricultural diversity and its culinary talent. The first dinner will take place on October 29 at Wilson’s Orchard & Farm in Iowa City, where Chef Benjamin Smart of Big Grove Brewery will showcase ingredients from local farms in a five-course menu.

Secretary Naig Announces Launch of Choose Iowa Food Purchasing Pilot Program for Food Banks

DES MOINES, Iowa (July 31, 2024) – Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig today announced the launch of the Choose Iowa Food Purchasing Program – Food Bank Pilot. The pilot program, which was authorized during the 2024 legislative session and is an initiative of the state’s Choose Iowa Program, aims to connect Iowa food banks with Choose Iowa members to help alleviate food insecurity within our communities.

DES MOINES, Iowa (May 23, 2024) – The deadline for Iowa school-aged students to submit entries for the 2024 Choose Iowa Calendar Contest is quickly approaching. Students up to the age of 18 are invited to submit artwork by June 3 that features at least one aspect of Iowa agriculture, with an emphasis on food, livestock or crop production.

INDIANOLA, Iowa (Mar. 20, 2024) – Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced today that the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship has awarded 26 Choose Iowa Value-Added Grants to Iowa farmers, small businesses and non-profits in 22 counties totaling $463,000.
