Organic Greens owner James Nisly is passionate about local food and has built his complex business around it. From raising vegetables and operating a mid-range food hub to piloting processing techniques that make local table food more accessible to schools, James continually seeks to solve the problems facing Iowa’s local food system.
He started with growing microgreens in a rented trailer in 2008. Since then, he has purchased land, added greenhouses and constructed handling facilities. He has also purchased equipment to serve more than 25 farms, 50 retail customers and up to 20 schools each week. Join us to see how James moves food from area farms through his doors to schools, retailers and other customers around the state.
